The company informed on Tuesday that former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has invested in plant-based protein startup ‘Shaka Harry’. The plant-based chicken startup said it has received $2 million in seed funding led by Better Bite Ventures, Blue Horizon and Panthera Peak Ventures.

Apart from Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the company also has other investors like well-known chef Manu Chandra. Talking about the partnership, Mahendra Singh Dhoni told reporters that he used to love chicken but now prefers a balanced diet. ‘Shaka Harry’s products come with a wide range and offer a healthier experience than traditional meat dishes,’ he added.

Anand Nagarajan, Co-Founder, Liberate Foods, said, “We are currently serving over 30,000 customers across 10 cities every month. The target is to increase this to three times in the next few months. Shaka Harry’s products will also be available in other countries by the end of the year.
Shaka Harry sells her products online through Swiggy Instamart, Big Basket and Zepto. Apart from this, the company has also partnered with supermarkets like Metro and Nature’s Basket to sell products offline.
